NameCRM vs HoneyBook

HoneyBook and NameCRM aim at the same owner: a small service business that sends proposals, signs contracts, takes payments and keeps clients informed. HoneyBook is an established product sold in Canada today. NameCRM is the CRM we built and run our own agency on, and it is not on sale yet.

The biggest difference for a business in Canada is the phone. NameCRM answers calls with an AI receptionist and texts clients from your business number. HoneyBook's phone and texting add-on is offered only to members located in the United States.

Who each one is for

HoneyBook is the better choice when

  • You need a system today: HoneyBook is on sale in Canada and invoices in Canadian dollars.
  • Your clients choose a package, sign and pay in one step, which HoneyBook's smart files are built for.
  • You want native iPhone and Android apps.
  • You rely on other software: Zapier connects HoneyBook to thousands of apps.

NameCRM is the better fit when

  • Missed calls cost you work, and you want an AI receptionist that answers, books into your calendar and files the call.
  • You are in Canada and want calling and texting inside the CRM, from your business number.
  • You want client records stored in Canada.
  • Your books run on QuickBooks Online and you want totals checked across Stripe, the CRM and QuickBooks.
  • You want a walkthrough from the team that builds it, at your place, somewhere near you or online.

Where HoneyBook is ahead today

HoneyBook is a finished product with a large user base: its home page says it is trusted by over 100,000 small businesses. Its smart files let a client pick a package, sign and pay in one step, its scheduler handles paid sessions and round robin for teams, and it has apps for iPhone and Android.

It also connects to far more software. Zapier links it to thousands of apps, and it added Claude and ChatGPT connectors in August 2026. NameCRM connects directly to the systems a service business runs on: Microsoft 365, Google Calendar, Stripe, QuickBooks Online and the phone network.

Where NameCRM is different

NameCRM was built around the phone. When nobody picks up, its AI receptionist answers, says it is an AI and that the call is recorded, books the meeting in your Google Calendar while the caller waits and texts them a recap. The call, its summary and any promise made land on the client's record.

It is also built for British Columbia: GST is added on top, BC statutory holidays are known, times are Pacific, and Canada's anti-spam consent is checked before a message goes out. Client records sit in a database in Canada, and our AI trust page names every service that processes data elsewhere.

Questions

What people ask before they choose

Is NameCRM a HoneyBook alternative for Canadian businesses?

It is built for the same kind of business, made in Canada, with client records stored in Canada. The main differences are its AI receptionist and the calling and texting that work for businesses in Canada. NameCRM is not on sale yet, while HoneyBook is available in Canada today.

Does HoneyBook work in Canada?

Yes. On October 4, 2026, HoneyBook's own site said it is available to business owners in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, with invoices in Canadian dollars and Canadian bank payments by pre-authorized debit. Its Business Phone and SMS add-on was offered only to members located in the United States.

Does HoneyBook have an AI receptionist?

We found none on HoneyBook's own pages on October 4, 2026. Calls to a HoneyBook business number are forwarded to your own phone, and calls from known contacts are recorded and summarised for US members. NameCRM's AI receptionist answers calls itself and books meetings during the call.

Where is client data stored with each one?

NameCRM keeps client records in a database in Canada, in Montreal. Its app servers and AI services run in the United States, and our AI trust page lists each one. HoneyBook's privacy policy says personal information may be processed in the United States, and we found no Canadian hosting option on its pages.

Can I move from HoneyBook to NameCRM later?

Yes, once NameCRM opens to your business. Your contacts come in through a CSV import that maps your columns, shows likely duplicates before anything is saved and never deletes a record. We can help you bring the history across during setup.
