What is custom software, and how is it different from a subscription tool?
Custom software is written for one business, around its own steps, prices and rules. A subscription tool is written for thousands of businesses at once, so you adapt your work to it. With custom software the tool adapts to you, and you own what is built for you instead of renting it every month.
When is an off-the-shelf tool the better choice?
When it already covers how you sell and the gaps are small. Then buy it, and we can set it up and connect it to your website. Build when your process is how you win work, when staff retype the same details between tools, or when your rules, such as rate cards or deposits, do not fit a template.
Who owns the software you build for us, and our data?
You do. The code we write for you is yours once the project is paid, and your data and your domain are yours from the start. NameCRM, our own product, is different: it is a subscription we are opening to other businesses, and one click exports every record you hold in it.
Where is our data stored?
Each iFloor store's database is hosted in Canada, in the Montreal region. NameCRM keeps client records, files and call recordings in Canada too, while its server code runs in the United States, and our AI trust page names every service that sees what. A custom build can be hosted in Canada the same way.
How long does a custom software project take?
It depends on the scope, so we do not publish a standard timeline. After the free assessment, the written estimate splits the work into phases, and the first phase is something your team can use. Later phases arrive as small releases you try as we go, so you use the system long before the last feature lands.
What happens to our software if Nametech disappears?
Your code and your data are yours, so another developer can carry on. We build on widely used technology, such as a Postgres database and standard cloud hosting, and every system comes with its automated tests and written notes. That is what makes a handover safe, and it is how our own products are built.
Can custom software connect to QuickBooks, Stripe and our calendar?
Yes. NameCRM mirrors customers, invoices, payments, refunds and payouts to QuickBooks Online, takes card payments through Stripe and syncs with Google Calendar both ways, and our own business runs on those connections every day. We build the same connections into custom software, each one checked against the other system's own records.
How do you test software before our team relies on it?
Every release runs through automated tests first: 228 test suites and 35 real-browser harnesses for NameCRM, and 578 tests plus 8 structural checks for iFloor. A new check is trusted only after we have seen it fail, and changes touching money, sign-in or client data get an independent review before they ship.
Do you sell NameCRM, or build software for us?
Both, and they are different things. A custom build is written for your business, and the code is yours once it is paid. NameCRM is our own client system, which we are opening to other businesses as a subscription; request access for a walkthrough. At the free assessment we say which fits, or whether a ready-made tool does.
Can you move our records from the system we use now?
Yes. We move customers, history and files into the new system and check the counts before you switch. When iFloor replaced a flooring store's old order tool on the first day of the build, all 35 order columns came across, and NameCRM imported nine months of texts and voicemails from a previous phone provider.
How much does custom software cost?
It depends on the scope: how many steps, user roles and connections the software needs, and whether we extend a tool you already have or build from the ground up. We publish no flat price, because no two builds are alike. After the free 30-minute assessment you get a written estimate, with GST added on top. Call 604-900-2060 for pricing.
Do you build custom software for businesses outside Surrey?
Yes. We come to clients across the Lower Mainland, at their business, at a spot near them or online, and we build for businesses elsewhere in British Columbia and across Canada. iFloor's first store is in Richmond, and our own agency runs on NameCRM from Surrey.
