Jobber Receptionist alternative for businesses that do not run on Jobber
Jobber Receptionist is the AI receptionist inside Jobber, the software home service businesses use to run their jobs. Its page says it works from the data already in your Jobber account. If you are a plumber, a landscaper or a cleaner and you already live in Jobber, it is hard to argue for anything else.
This page is for everyone that sentence leaves out: the service business that is not on Jobber and is not about to move. Ours is the same idea in a different system. It lives inside NameCRM and works from the client records there. We timed both by phone on October 11, 2026.

Timed by phone
Jobber Receptionist's demo number and ours, two calls each
Jobber's typical wait was 2.7 and 2.8 seconds, and its slowest answer took 3.4 seconds. It never left a wait over five seconds. It spoke over our caller once, on a call where our caller also cut in on it once.
On October 11, 2026 we phoned each demo number twice. The caller was an AI of ours playing a new customer, and it was not told whose number it had dialled. The wait is the time from the caller's last sound to the receptionist's first sound. The typical wait is the middle value on a call. Talking over the caller means it started speaking while the caller was mid-sentence and the caller kept going.

What this test cannot tell you
These are demonstration lines. A company's demo line is not the same as a receptionist set up for a paying customer, and each demo plays a different kind of business.
Two calls is a small sample. The two typical waits beside each name show how much one line can move between calls. Treat the table as a snapshot of one afternoon, not a ranking for all time.
Speed is not the job. This measures waiting and interrupting. It says nothing about whether the answers were right, whether a booking was made or what the business received afterwards. We test those separately on our own line and we did not grade anyone else on them.
The caller was an AI. It let us ask every line the same kind of questions in the same manner. A person would have been less consistent and might have been more patient.
Our caller was not always polite either. It cut in before the line had finished speaking on four of the eighteen calls. It did so five times on one RingCentral call and three times on one My AI Front Desk call. It did so once on a Jobber call and once on an Upfirst call. On the My AI Front Desk call and the Jobber call, that is the same call where the line talked over the caller. So part of that count may be the line finishing its own sentence. We have since changed the caller to wait until the line's voice has stopped, and the next run will count again.

Which one fits your business
Jobber Receptionist is the better choice when
You already run your jobs in Jobber. It starts with your services, request forms and booking settings.
You are a home service business. Its page is written for plumbers, HVAC techs, landscapers and cleaners.
You want customers to be able to text the receptionist as well as call it.
You want calls turned into work requests for a crew, more than meetings for one person.
Ours is the better fit when
You are not on Jobber and do not want to move your business to it.
Your day is calls, email, meetings, quotes and contracts more than visits by a crew.
A shorter wait matters to you: 1.6 and 1.9 seconds against 2.7 and 2.8 on the same test.
You want every caller told at the start that it is an AI and that the call is recorded.
You want to listen to a live call from your phone and take it over.
The same idea in two different systems
Both receptionists get their usefulness from the system they sit in. Jobber's knows your services and your booking rules because they are in Jobber. Ours knows the caller's open deals, recent texts and upcoming meetings because they are in NameCRM.
Neither is much use to someone who keeps their business somewhere else, which is an awkward thing to admit on a page about alternatives. So the real choice is the system. If Jobber runs your jobs, use Jobber's receptionist.
What the two calls to Jobber showed
Jobber's typical wait was 2.7 and 2.8 seconds, close to the same on both calls. Its slowest answer took 3.4 seconds, and it never left a silence over five seconds. It spoke over our caller once, and our caller cut in on it once on that same call, so we read nothing into it.
Ours answered in 1.6 and 1.9 seconds, with a slowest answer of 2.4. Both were demo numbers, and two calls is a small sample.
How to get the AI receptionist
The AI receptionist is part of NameCRM and is not sold on its own, because it books into the calendar, reads the caller's record and turns promises into tasks. Request access on the NameCRM page and we will set up a walkthrough.
Book the free 30-minute assessment. Seemab Akbar looks at how your business runs today and tells you plainly what to buy, what to build and what to leave alone. We come to you, meet somewhere near you, or talk online.
Is there an alternative to Jobber Receptionist if I do not use Jobber?
Yes. Jobber Receptionist works from your Jobber account, so a business on another system needs a different one. Ours works from NameCRM. It reads the caller's record, books into your calendar and files the call. It comes by request, with a walkthrough first.
How fast does Jobber Receptionist answer a call?
We phoned its public demo number twice on October 11, 2026. Its typical wait was 2.7 and 2.8 seconds, and its slowest answer took 3.4 seconds. It spoke over our caller once, on a call where our caller also cut in on it once. That is two calls to a demo number, not a customer's own setup.
Does Jobber Receptionist work without a Jobber account?
Its page describes it as working from the data in your Jobber account: your services, request forms and booking settings. We found nothing on that page, on October 11, 2026, about using it without one.
Can I hear Jobber Receptionist before I decide?
Yes. Its page prints demo numbers for the US and Canada. You can hear ours by calling 604-900-2060 and letting it ring. When nobody picks up, the receptionist answers.
Which is better for a small service business, Jobber Receptionist or yours?
It depends on the system you run. If your jobs, quotes and schedule are in Jobber, use Jobber Receptionist. If you are choosing a client system and your work is meetings, quotes and contracts, look at NameCRM and the receptionist that comes with it.
